Hi Guys

Does anyone use a combination of L-Info batteries and generic batteries? My EA-50 chargers are the ones that come with the cameras and charge the L-Info batteries nice and fast. However I also have two identical batteries (but generic brands) that I use for my video light and they have to sit in the charger almost all day (and longer sometimes) before the charge light goes out!!

Anyone know the reason for this ...Does the charger maybe recognise the generic battery as a "non LInfo"
battery and maybe just trickle charges it? It does eventually charges it but sheesh, it takes ages!!

Anyone here using generic batteries for either the camera or something else? If so what are you using to charge them??

I'm using NP-F970 generics in my FS700.

I charge them with EXPRO NP-F Dual Chargers off eBay and just wait for the light to go out ... takes approx 6 hours from a dead battery to full. But the beauty is you're charging two at a time. I bought two chargers, so I charge 4 batteries in total within 6 hours.

Thanks James

The chargers that come with the generic batteries are hopeless and die soon after you use them so maybe that's what I need for the light batteries which are 770's the same as the camera but certainly take 10 times the time to charge!!

Have you any idea what charge rate your charger pushes out? I can only find one model here and it's the usual 8.4 volts and delivers 600ma to each battery (1200ma total) I wonder if that's enough to charge by two batteries in a reasonable time period like 4 hours? (since the 770's are smaller than the 970's)

Can't help you with the numbers, but they're the best after market chargers i've used after the chinese blue LCD display ones that show you the actual level of charge and percentage. Thing is, those LCD display versions are solo battery chargers and not dual.

Might be best to take a punt with another generic charger and see what happens. They are cheap enough in comparison to genuine Sony.

I'm using this one - IDX LC-7S 4 Channel Charger - for Sony 7.2VDC Batteries LC-7S

I know its not a current product. It does charge Sony and generic batteries equally well and fast.

You may be able to find one used. I bought a spare once I saw how well it worked. :)

That looks really good.

Know any retailers that will post to the United Kingdom ?
