Jurij Turnsek January 6th, 2015, 01:40 AM Canon's CES announcements were dismal - how can they afford not to enter the consumer 4K camcorder market this year, but still pump out "new" models with only NFC added? They even announced new PowerShot cameras .... and a "media hub", hehe.
Jim Martin January 6th, 2015, 10:36 AM This is about changes to the Cinema EOS line, not about 4K camcorders.....if you are familiar with Canon at all, you'd know that CES is not a show they make big announcements at. What you are talking about is much more likely to happen right around NAB ....so, "patience young Skywalker"....

Jurij Turnsek January 6th, 2015, 01:07 PM I was talking about consumer camcorders, which are always introduced at CES by Sony, Panasonic, JVC and Canon. When I was in the market for my current HD one, I would wait for CES to see if the newest generation would suffice. It took them all 3 years to get to 24mbs AVCHD, but now Panasonic is pulling out all the stops, followed by Sony and JVC with Canon waiting in the shadows.
Jim Martin January 6th, 2015, 03:33 PM Understood...but start a new thread on that......

It's interesting to see that Canon left out the 1DC, and even decided to raise its price by $2,000, back to $12,000:

Michael Kraus January 9th, 2015, 09:32 AM What I find interesting on the 1DC is the the little "this item is non-returnable" caption. Typically that means there's a new model coming out. At least that's the way it was with the C100.
Barry Goyette January 9th, 2015, 12:47 PM All Cinema EOS products are non-returnable. Ya gotta really want it.

Yes, I agree -- and when a new model is imminent, usually there'll also be a price drop on the older model rather than an increase. Odd.
