Have any C100 mkII owners had real world experience with the ftp function? Interested to hear how it performs sending clips remotely to a ftp server. Problems? Tips? Workflow?

I occasionally send footage to TV newsrooms but at present, import to Avid, edit a compilation, export a compressed movie then upload to ftp. A lot of steps when there's a tight deadline! Would save a lot of time sending selected clips straight from the camera.

Thanks,
Mark.

Welcome to DVInfo.

Keep in mind that there's a tradeoff of file size and time it takes to transfer. Internet connections are small pipes and transferring raw files will take a lot of time vs your recompressed-for-the-web files. But the workflow also takes time as you point out. In my experience with WiFi equipped cameras, turning it on adds significantly to power consumption so if you are on battery.....

I should have explained the C100 can record simultaneously in SD which is all I need for my news clients. I'm just curious to see if anyone is using the ftp function. I'm sceptical about how much and how fast you can actually send. And of course it's dependent on WiFi signal and connection speeds.
