I own GoPro Studio Premium and I use it all the time, particularly FirstLight and HDLink, which is the only reason to own Premium in the first place. GoPro has now released new firmware for the Hero 3+ Black camera, it seems that using any of the new MTP file transfer features of the Hero camera requires the new version of the free Studio software. HOWEVER, when I update to the free version I lose both HDLink and FirstLight. Are there any plans to release a version of Premium that incorporates the new Hero features of the free version?

Hmmm, it's been over a year since the last update, apparently there will never be a new version of GoPro Studio Premium...

I know but Studio is so much easier.
Its a known bug as it can convert to mov but not to avi.
I dont think GoPro is ever going to fix this.

Actually media encoder convert only in mov not for a bug, but for a choise, be cause .avi is not a multiplatform correct container, mov is it.

Media encoder read files and encode correctly that gopro studio premium don't do, be cause media encoder often use different decoder to read many source files (main concept decoder) and avoid some mistake like dirty rain with some ghxx files, lacking of audio for other and so on...

Hdlink is good for it's 4:2:0 upsampling during encoding, but is the past, Gopro studio is the present, and probably Media encoder will be the future.

me too i like hdlink and gopro studio, with media encoder i miss a lot, but is not possible to ever use go pro studio, premium or not...

Pro Hdlink - go pro studio
- rewrap files
- encoding with 4:2:0 upsampling
- active metadata
- raw conversion (pro and premium version)
- proxy linked file for active metadata
- respeed /rescale shooting

Cons
- old structure
- not ever stable on some video card
- no updated from since 1,5 years
- no raw under mac
- some files are encoded wrong or not readed

Media Encoder
Pro
- encode every kind of files
- multithreading
- support different setup encoding at same batch

Cons
- not support raw
- not do upsampling
- no active metadata
- no avi - mov unwrapping (under mac may be possible with free media encoder utility)
