Does anyone have any ideas about mounting a Rode VideoMike to an FX-1?
Mounting it on the existing cold shoe causes it to stick out considerably (inviting some negative comment from guests at wedding I was taping) and I've read about some "homemade" mount jobs on this site. It would seem that the plate that holds the LCD (with two screws at the end) would be suitable to hold a bracket but, because the VideoMike comes with its own shock mount, it has to be attached through the shoe. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

get yourself a small microphone table stand pipe...then attach a manfrotto
don t know how to call it.....twistable ball....
put the pipe in the mike hloder. twist the manfrotto 90 degrees ....ataach any shockmount to the manfrotto ....finished....
there you go....total cost: piupe 15 euro...manfrotto 45 euro....shockmount 100 euro

Get a Audio Technica AT8415 shock mount and the 3760057 camera shoe mount adapter and dont forget a deadcat for the wind. We have 12 of these setups and they work great you cant even hear the zoom or any camera noise.

Thanks people for the kind suggestions. Do you also use a Beachtek XLR and which model would you recommend? I'm looking at the DX-4 or 6. Thanks.

John..on your recommendation using the shoe mount and shock mount...went to B & H's site to view same and it looks like the shoe mount would attach to the shoe mount on top of the on-board mike. I was envisoning something like a bracket you could put under the screws of the lcd holder.
