i do many doc-type shoots.

i was looking for a small non-intrusive camera for those very small interviews where some folks would truly be uncomfortable with a "real" rig.

i was looking at the sony rx10 mk2 as a possible solution.

i had also spent a week looking at the canon xc10.

much of the web chatter suggests that each camera has its charms but neither produces a very sharp, engaging image.

i wonder what other's experiences have been with the rx10mk2 as an interview camera.

thanks in advance for any info you care to share.

be well.

I use the RX10 first version and its perfect for everything. I just shot a 1hr doco on this thing and it's held up great.

Both of these cameras will produce very usable images but the problem as always is how to get decent interview audio out of a DSLR type setup.

By the time that has been resolved with strapped on mics or an external recorder you are starting to build up your equipment again and I feel you would be better off with a C100 with dedicated audio inputs which is not really that much bigger?

But both of these cameras are great for unobtrusive observational filming. I had the Canon XC10 and whilst really liking the ergonomics swapped it out for the RX10 mk2 which I felt produced sharper images and also has the bonus of providing brilliant slo-mo.

thank you for adding to the conversation.

any links that you can share of sony rx10 mk2 footage?

(or even canon xc10 footage as a comparison would be appreciated)

be well.
