The author to that article was a bit late to the party. There have been many official announcements from both Sony and Magix outlining the future of Vegas, Movie Studio and various other products (basically everything SCS has except the Catalyst line), and the future looks bright, with a new release already announced for the autumn time frame.

Hello Vegas!! I recently purchased the upgrade from Magix. I think this is a new beginning for Vegas and I am excited to see what this new team can do.

The team is not new, The developers remain in the States, only the owner has changed.

I think we all can agree that having a new owner will breath some life into the development team and perhaps take Vegas to new heights.
