What is the best way to find actors for a paid short film. To be more specific this is going to be a sitcom type of short that will require dramatic comedy actors. I will be hiring at least seven of them. The pay will range from $500.00 to $1,000.00 for a two day shoot. It may be more if we find exactly the right people and they have experience that can be backed up. Obviously I am not looking for actors with a SAG card but I can compensate them commensurate with some experience or talent. Where do I find them?

I have been producing videos for years but I am primarily a commercial video guy. A comedy short will be a new venture for me. I'm looking forward to it.

All input and advise is welcome (also, I may be offline for the next five days).

Edit: The cast will range in age from 18 to 60 years old.

Kind Regards,

Steve

try starnow or casting networks - you'll have to look up the US version as I'm in AUS. Starnow is more amateur and casting networks actors will usually have agents.

I would suggest a mix of Craigslist (albeit not as popular anymore), any acting casting places nearby, and a local comedy circuit venue or local theater. Maybe even post on a Facebook groups page & host an audition.

I would try some of the local actor agents, there are good actors willing to work on shorts for union minimums for the experience or to practice screen acting. It also helps if you've got a good script

It's a good idea to audition them.
