Can anyone confirm if H.265 video, shot on the Canon XF705, can be uploaded directly into DaVinci Resolve 16 Study (paid) version. Also, my dell is running NVIDIA GTX 745. Thank you, Bob

Can't answer that directly, but I can load H265 video from a GH5 in Resolve Studio 15, so unless there is something obscure about Canon's implementation of the codec, there shouldn't be any problems.

Bob.

Have a good read of the following post threads as they go over what can play the Canon specific version of H.265. Basically it is the full Studio version of Resolve, Edius 9, and programs like Assimilate's Scratch. Plus you can now handle the files in FFMpeg.

I got Canon's XF705 H.265 HEVC to play... if you can call staggering along at 5-6 frames a second "playing." That is on an 5.1Ghz overclocked 8700k with a GTX-1080Ti card, fast SSD video drives and plenty of RAM. Not a very practical editing codec for sure! Couldn't work with it without transcoding.

Hey guys, thanks for getting back tp be. I sent an email directly to Canon USA Support Team asking about the Canon XF-705 and the H.265 codex. Below is their response, and I think it is good news.

Dear Robert Safay,
Thank you for contacting Canon, my name is Mario and I can confirm that as of version 15, DaVinci Resolve's paid software can read the XF705 H.265 codec.

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
Sincerely,
Mario
