I recently purchased a Manfrotto MVR901ECLA remote control for my Canon XA20, based on the fact the Manfrotto compatibility list indicates that my camera and that remote are compatible.

When I connected the remote to the "Remote" jack (I did not see a LANC jack, as I've seen on other cameras) and turned on the camera, there was no lights on the remote (an LED should have come up, as per the instructions manual).

I did a Google search using the remote and the camera models as key words, and I did not see much regarding those two working together.

I was wondering if anyone out there has seen the Manfrotto MVR901ECLA and the Canon XA20 working together. (or the remote and the Vixia HF G30, which is the same technology as the XA20).

It's also possible that the remote is faulty, but I would like to confirm compatibility before I take other steps.

Thanks.

Don't have a Manfrotto MVR901ECLA myself but was considering it at one point to use with my Canon HF-G30. It is compatible with the XA20, and HF-G30, as that chart on the Manfrotto page states:

https://cdn.vitecimagingsolutions.com/pub/media/downloadable/manual/Camcorder-Compatibility-Chart-v09-17.pdf?_ga=2.75075986.1637169538.1580600756-887587183.1580600756

Also if you look at the B&H product page you'll see several reviews (and Q&A's) confirming that it works, as it should, with the HF-G30:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/816005-REG/Manfrotto_MVR901ECLA_RC_Clamp_LANC_Remote.html/reviews/BI/2855/KBID/3801 (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/816005-REG/Manfrotto_MVR901ECLA_RC_Clamp_LANC_Remote.html/reviews/BI/2855/KBID/3801/BI/2855/KBID/3801/BI/2855/KBID/3801)

If the LED light is not coming on (after a few seconds), and you've checked the cable connections (make sure the pin is fully seated in the XA20 Remote Jack), suggests the remote power supply is faulty.
