(Written by Trond on behalf of my stepdaughter, Irmelinn)

For almost 2 years, she has been the theme maker for the UWOL challenge, a task she has taken very seriously. But now, for the 54th challenge, she changed the roles. I became the theme maker, and she stepped up to become the youngest person to ever submit an UWOL entry.

Meet Irmelinn, as she takes you on a hike on a nearby mountain, and checks out an old WW1/ WW2 fortress.
She came up with the idea/ story and did all the editing herself, with me being a helping hand as camera operator for parts of the film.

Any comments and feedback are appreciated.
Hope you enjoy!

Hei Irmelinn :)

You got it, I'll join you for a walk anytime!

Very nice to see how your skills and interest has developed from years of photography to also include film making as well. And now you have made your first (of many to come) public film! I'm proud of you!

At 1:16 I think you must be the happiest soldier!

(by the way, sorry for accidentally missing to hit the record button in a shot or two!
I promise it will almost never happen again)

Well done!

I loved watching this (several times!). Your excitement and enthusiasm were the best parts and remind us all of what being outdoors should be like. (I'm going to try to show more of the same excitement in my own videos in the future.)

The location really made me interested, too. I would have liked to have seen a little more of the fortress, but that's because I find places like that so interesting. It's so beautiful there even in the winter. I really liked the music, too. It complemented the energy of your film instead of just being background sound. Good choice!

This was a wonderful first entry into the UWOL competition and I look forward to seeing more from you in the future.

Hi Irmelinn,

First of all congratulations on completing your first UWOL entry. Having been setting the theme for the last couple of years you now know how difficult you have made things for us!

You have edited your entry very well and I especially like the way you have managed to show us your natural curiosity and enthusiasm for all things outdoors. Certainly a lesson that we can all learn from when we appear in our own films.

You obviously enjoy nature and filming and I'm looking forward to watching more entries from you in the future.

Mick

Irmelinn congratulation on getting your first video for UWOL done. A very nice video with some interesting places to go. One suggestion would be when you talk to the camera would be to stay focused on the camera long enough to complete the shot. I hope to see more of your videos in future challenges! Keep at it and you will be able to teach Trond a few things.

Puts me and many others to shame. By not even trying.

Irmalinn, great job. I don't know why you haven't entered earlier. Reading some of the other posts I can agree that your youthful enthusiasm stole the show. And was that DaVinci Resolve you were editing on? Very impressive. My only comment is that you could have chosen a better screen grab, maybe a shot of you by the shore gun or the one of you up in the tree. I would love playing with that big shore gun, that looked like fun. I hope that now that you have completed your first entry that you will be a regular contributor Bob

Both Irmelinn and I use Adobe Premiere Pro for editing.

Irmelinn will comment later, but maybe not until next week.

Hi Irmelinn,

My name is Catherine and I am friends with people here on this forum. Just wanted to let you know you did a fantastic job in this first entry! Editing in Adobe Premier Pro is no small feat. I enjoyed coming alongside you in your romp through the woods, to the interesting war relic and in all kinds of weather. I sure would like to see you submit this round too. Maybe Trond won't cut too much out the next time you submit your video! ;-).

Sincerely,
Cat
