For all of the years I've been in this business, broadcast companies have pretty much ruled everything concerning the quality of ANY video on TV.

So along comes Covid and all of a sudden horrible, terrible very bad looking video feeds are the norm.

So what is going to happen when the current event is over? Will the commercial that I shot with a 10 year old flip phone be rejected?

Overly dramatic, yes, but I think its an interesting thought. Comments! JM

What I've particularly noticed is professionally produced TV commercials using audio with the room echo/reverb included, as if they are doing some sort of virtue signalling with their finished production quality. It's just plain silly.

Nothing to do with broadcast cameras. But I like to see some of these web based interviews where the person has put some thought into camera placement, lighting and background.

I saw a forum post the other day about choosing a new broadcast camera, and assumed it would be something that fitted my view of broadcast - and was a bit sad it was a pretty ordinary camcorder in a church, with permanent lens, on a spindly sub £100 tripod running HDMI. I wouldn't;t call that broadcast - but to be honest, nowadays maybe it is! I've got a very nice camera on a pedestal, with an autocue on it - but I'd never describe it as a broadcast camera?
