It was always so handy that Matrox in their manual for [expensive hardware I purchased once] made a chart for data rate of encoding vs how much you can stuff on a DVD disc. It was so useful I think I even cut that page out and discarded the rest of the manual.

I'll just leave this relic here for posterity.
