How can we shoot in different aspect ratios in this camcorder.
If i'm going to blow up my 1080/24p video to 1.85:1 aspect ratio or 2.35:1 ratio in 35mm , is there any best ways to shoot. Please advise.

I think if you search around in this forum you'll find some good discussions on this subject. The short of it is you shoot 1080P video and crop to your desired aspect ratio in post.

I understand to crop for 2.35, but isn't HD already 16/9 standard? Isn't it 1.82 automatically?
Or am I wrong/confused?

Check out the Adam Wilt article at dv.com for aspect ratios:

Then check out this recent thread that went into all sorts of aspect ratio issues:

I see that I mistyped, I meant 1.85 instead of 1.82.
The links were interesting, thank you.
So I was right, HD and HDV cams shoot native 16/9, always?

I asked because the original poster said if he would want a widescreen image in 1.85 or 2.35, if he would need to crop.
But if a HD cam already shoots 1.78 natively, he wouldn't have to crop for the usual 16/9.
But for a 2.35 image, you would need to crop.

Thanks Chris, for clearing that up.
I was confused for a second.
