I am using TMPGEnc to encode mpegs from avi files produces from Premier 6.0. I don?t have a dvd burner but do have a cdr. So I wish to make vcds that I can play on my dvd player. Using the defaults on the trial version of TMPGEnc, my computer locks up. I have to reboot to get out of condition. Is there something wrong with my setup or computer? I am using Athlon 900, 128 mB of ram, 20 GB hard drive just for video storage. If you have some advice I would appreciate it.

One of the more important things you've forgot to mention is
which OS you are using and what filesystem. I have TMPGEnc
running on my Windows 2000 Professional SP3 system with NTFS
without much problems (sometimes I get an weird error, but
restarting TMPGEnc clears that).

Any chance you are running Windows XP? If so I have an XP
machine laying around that I can try for you!

I solved the problem by getting rid of the ACPI power management, sharing IRQ's. I also updated to the latest bios release for my board. Now TMPGEnc works great and fast.

One last question, now that I can produce MPEGs from TMPGEnc, what do I use to burn them to DVD. I current have NERO express which will burn videos for Dvd or is there something better to use.

Thanks,

Nero might do it fast and simple but it will probably not look
very professional (the DVD with menu's etc. that is). If you
want to make your own menus and whatnot you have to go
author your DVD with authoring software.
