I took a sample of my kid singing and did a bunch of tests. Thought I'd share them.

Files:
-Initial clip is HDV Native
-Converted to DVCProHD 1080i via AJA Kona LHe
-Converted to SD 8 Bit Uncompressed (both letterboxed and blowup)
-Converted to DV (both letterboxed and blowup)

All can be found here in HDV Conversion Tests folder:

I am VERY happy with the way these conversions turned out. I just may shoot HD all the time rather than DV. I also, after having loved DV for a long time, may switch to mastering everything SD. At least this way...working in HDV or DVCProHD and then doing final render to SD Uncompressed...file sizes will be decent and man, it sure looks better than DV.

Let me know thoughts on these files. I found it interesting. If you can't open them (PC), try VLC.

It is a free viewer that plays just about anything:

May cause a false trojan alert in some security software, but straightforward to use.

Video Lan Client... Just do a google search for "vlc" I am not going to post a link as I am not sure of the rules on this forum regarding that.

*EDIT*

Oh well that answers that question if Pete does it then I'll follow... *smile*

Sorry for the Mac only files, guys. Hope you can get a good idea of the quality via VLC.
