Howdy,

I need to export footage from Premiere to work with it in FCP4/5. It originated in HDCAM and I believe was digitized via a Bluefish card. I'd like to downrez it to a 4:2:2 format, preferably DVCPro50 to work with it in FCP (don't need HD for this particular project). Does anyone know how I go about this? I'm not the Premiere user--I have to tell someone else what file format to give me. Thanks in advance!

Hi Charles,

I guess this all depends on what codecs FCP supports. Premiere can export to pretty much any codec which is installed on the machine. So If I have Quicktime installed then I can export out at DVCPro. Then again if I have the Matrox software codecs installed then I can export out an AVi as DVCPro50, however the file probably won't playback in FCP unless there is a Matrox software codec for Mac.

Your best bet is to specify exactly the file type (*.AVI, *.MOV etc) and the codec (Matrox, Sorrenson, Apple etc) that FCP can except. From there we can then work out if Premiere can export out the video file you need.

Thanks Ed.

It is developing that the Premiere system in use has a Bluefish444 card and allegedly I can download a Bluefish QT component which will allow me to bring the files into FCP as the codec of my choice--I think...!
