It was supposed to be the grand unveiling of a new generation in home entertainment when Kevin Collins of Microsoft Corp. popped an HD DVD disc into a Toshiba production model and hit "play." Nothing happened. The failed product demo at this week's International Consumer Electronics Show was hardly an auspicious start for the HD DVD camp in what's promising to be a nasty, drawn-out technology format war

I think that Blu-Ray is going to win this war in the long run. Unfortunately Toshiba is not going to give up, because they'll have all the licensing fees coming in.

Toshiba will be out with their player first, but when Sony starts making those $399 Playstaion 3's with built-in Blu-Rays that will be outselling the X-Box, Blu-Ray will start winning the war.
