I seem to have managed to capture into FCP from my Canon XL H1 using material shot at 30f, but can't figure out how to import it and create a timeline with the file.

I can see the file playing on the computer while I am capturing, but when I try to create a sequence/timeline with it FCP displays wierd messages about unsupported codec etc.

Can anyone please help step me through this, or do I have to wait for Apple to stumble through the finish line with an update. I had understood from the Canon guy when he did the demo at Birns and Sawyer a couple of weeks ago, that Apple would be releasing this in January, but then I read a post on this board stating that it is already possible to use FCP.

Help please.

Best

Harry.

IIRC, the XL-H1 60i is supported as it's pretty much doing a Z1 impression. The f modes are what makes it different and in need of a FCP update.

The JVC camp are in the same predicament. The XLH1 and HD100 are "supported" in 60i and 30P modes, respectively, but not 24P or F, yet. FCP6 should be coming soon.

I seem to be able to capture at 30f, but then FCP doesn't want to play it back.

Can anyone help me out on this? I've tried importing the file and all kinds of tricks.

Help
