View Full Version : Multiple Frame rates, same tape/project

Just curious. I'm doing some testing with my FX1 with respect to frame rates and comparison to my GL2. On the FX1, I shot CF24, CF30, and CF OFF. Is there a decent way to have all three clips in the same PPro 1.5.1 project (w/the new AspectHD 4.0)?

What I would like to do is take the shots from the GL2 and the corresponding HDV shots (down-converted to 480 from PPro 1.5.1) from the FX1 and run them together in the same video side by side (or caddy-corner, really). So, upper left corner will be GL2, and lower right corner will be FX1. Upper right and lower left will contain some descriptive text of the adjacent clip (camera settings, etc.) I'm hoping that I'll be able to get a good feel for how a final product would look like for the GL2 vs. FX1, as well as the different frame rates of the FX1, when the video is removed from the computer and delivered to a TV via DVD. I know the optimal solution would be to have a couple TVs and play the videos side by side that way, but that's a little out of the budget, my wife says (I bought all this camera equipment, y'see...).

Anyhow, I guess the main question here is, when I export the HDV from PPro in the various rates (29.97, 29.97, 29.97--hmm, only one rate for DV...), will the HDV frame rates AspectHD captured (CF24, CF30, 60i) still be true, more or less, in the down-converted video? Is my plan of action a valid path for seeing the difference between the two cameras, and the different camera frame rates?

Thanks,
Matt
