Hi, I just ordered my HD100 today with EVS. I'm super excited, I owned the hd-10 before this and we all know its faults but it gave me a great oppurtunity to perfect my HDV workflow (for senior motion graphics projects and documentaries).

I was just wondering (i searched with no luck) if any one has suggestions for an extended warranty. I know Mack is an option but is it worth it (im looking for 3-4 years extra) since i have to get one for the lens and the body? Does JVC offer any kind of extended warranty?

Anyway, I'm planning to shoot a short film in march or april and its going to be fun trying to push this camera to it's limits. (the camera is going to split time between supporting motion graphics at my job and making short movies/documentaries....hopefully some stuff from SXSW).

Hi Joe, thank you for your business sir! : )

The 4 year Mack 1066 for cameras $5000 and over is well worth it, being only $50 more than the 1056 warranty for cameras under $5000. Reason being that if anything goes kaput on the camera after the factory warranty expires, you will be very happy to have ANY alternative when a repair house tells you it is a $2000 repair that would be normally be covered by a warranty. 5% is a small price for peace of mind for 5 years (4 + 1).

Mack is authorized for repairs, and their warranty is transferable for a small fee. It raises the resale value of the camera when you can say to a buyer that it still has 2 years of warranty left, and that you will pay the transfer fee.

In 3 years at EVS, no one has ever called me and complained about Mack.
