Is this HDV what we are seeing?

Actually I have a few questions.

1) What mode was this shot in. DV-HDV 720 24p/25p/30p
2) Was the stock lens was used.
3) Is there any picture settings used or is this settings out of the box.

It was shot with the 25F mode of a European XL H1, that means 1080p. But it looks much better when played back at 720p.

Yes. And this was one of the major pains (apart from the lo-res viewfinder). One should definitly get the manual lense or a G35.

Yes, I used -3 db, [GAM] Cine 2, [KNE] low, [BLK] PRESS. Other settings were [PED] -1, [SET] -1 i think.

And ND filter was on 1/6 in almost all shots. The display was much too bright so I did not realize that it was actually that dark.

The one question I forgot to ask is what editor your using to cut the m2t. files and has it giv'n any problems using the 24p

It was actually just one of the tests shots we did over the weekend because Canon was so nice to lend us a XL H1 to test. We do not have any real plans yet... ;)

Premiere Pro 2.0 has a much improved .m2t file handling, I get nearly realtime conversion to 720p on my old 2.4GHz box. It is much faster than in Vegas.

But for cutting there is nothing that can beat Cineform on HDV (used their 15 days demo). Then, either PP2.0 or Vegas. I'm a Vegas fan, but the new Dynamic Link stuff between PP2.0 and After Effects 7.0 is very tempting: No more temporary renders.

24p / 25p is no problem for these tools.

I did not even dare to try on my 1GHz Powerbook because I've heard that the HDV support in Final Cut Pro is not so good. But I can test it tomorrow.

Andy, as mentioned to you on another board and with all due respect, your expectations that footage will still be available to download a year and a half later are unreasonable. It is not customary for contributors to close a topic because it just sort of naturally fades away to the bottom of the list.

I would suggest you contact the contributor directly instead of reviving an old thread that has broken links.
