What tools are available to make 1/4" threads?
Where can I order such tools online?

Here in Europe, Estonia nobody seems to have proper tools to make standard 1/4" threads.

Thanks in advance,
T.

You need a 1/4"-20 (20 threads/inch) tap set. A good set will have 3 taps, a starter, cutter, and finisher. In aluminum this is not quite so important, but it's nice to have the proper set with 3 taps. Any industrial supply house (like www.grainger.com) will carry both metric and imperial taps.

If you haven't tried, contact some of your local industrial supply outfits first. Is the issue the metric/imperial thing, or something else?

Oh, and make sure you have the correct drill bit. For 1/4-20 threads it's a #7 bit. The closest fractional size bit to that is 13/64"

If you can, get the #7 bit for nice tight threads. Hope that helps.

Thanks,

It`s metric/imperial issue here indeed.
And yes local industrial supply outfits doesn`t carry such a size.
