I am wondering if it is possible to use this to record the live uncompressed component output of D3/component/HDMI (through converters) into a more compression stable HD DV codec.

These sorts of cards tend to come from a reference design, with duplicates made by a number of different manufacturers. So the following is interesting. I have heard that the 50i version of DVCPROHD does 1440*1080i, if there is a 50i version of the card from another manufacturer with that resolution, then you will get a clean version of what your PAL market HDV1080i camera is recording at normal resolution. This would be good for Indies, as it transfers to 25p which can be slowed to 24p. Motion artifacts will be reduced to a minimum. If a version supported 720p recording even better. There maybe even a USB/firewire version for laptop use somewhere. My interest is getting a Sony/JVC HDV camera, or new H264 cameras coming (even the Sanyo Mpeg4) and recording from them.

The pages are in Japanese, so the above is about all I can determine, if anybody knows Japanese and can interpret it would be great.

So does anybody know anything about cards like this, or links to other ones? There might be other cards that do the same with better compression schemes, or resolution.
