Ok I am a FCP guy who recently and I mean just moments ago started using Premiere and all I want is a simple way to adjust the color, contrast, and brightness of my footage, Ive found the color correction bin under effects but I click on it I get nothing I drag and drop one of the options on the footage and it needs to be rendered but after rendering...it looks no different. How do I do it manually? Step by step please....

Thanks guys

I don't have program up at my office, but you have to click on clip you want to adjust, then on the effects control box next to the monitor and pull up the various effects and select the color correction one you inserted there for adjustment. If you just got the program, there is also a tutorial video DVD with it that gives you a good primer.
