View Full Version : The evil purple fringe

I have been getting ready to purchase an HDV camera. However I have become increasingly senstive to the chromatic aberation these cameras produce of a purple fringe around high contrast boundaries.

This problem has been discussed on these forums and I see it on almost every clip that has been posted from a variety of cameras.

I am wondering if anyone has come up with an effective way of dealing with this in post. Is there anyway to reduce the appearance of the really awful looking purple fringe?

I have found no way to reduce CA in post. Although if someone has I would be VERY interested to hear how. But I suspect it is impossible.
You just have to be very careful with exposure settings especially with telephoto!

It would be better, if you are seeing CA in the VF which is going to be a big problem for you, step down until it dissappears, or improves at least, and then try to work on improving that image in post.

Cheers
