HI people,

I was wondering where i can rent the Hollywood Camera works DVD collection because I do not have 500$ right now to buy the dvd collection. I Heared great things about http://www.hollywoodcamerawork.us also i was refered to http://technicalvideorental.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=109_86

They have the 6volume camera work (which i need)

SO before I rent from there I was wondering if there are other website that offer similar things or I should go ahead and rent it from there?

What you guys think, please let me know I'd really appreciate it.
Regards,
Joey

Don't know about other sites where those DVDs may be available but I've rented from Technical Video and have been very happy with their service.

Yah steve,

I tired looking around for other sites I haven't found anything I guess i'll get it from there. But again those DVDs you found them to be very helpful?

What do you think about this http://www.dvcamerarigs.com

he teaches in his book how to make crane, and dollies and stuff. and i've been reviewing his site and his books seems very helpful.

Do u know any dvd instructional videos similar to Hollywoodcameraworks that is based strictly on Lighting and Cinematography?

Joey Dee,

I have both the hollywood camera work dvd collection (there was a holiday sale with significant savings) and I have Dan's book.

I recommend them both quite highly. Dan's book compliments the hcw course.

The hcw course did help me quite a bit with understanding how to visual camera movement and blocking prior to getting on the set and experimenting on everyone else's time.

You're safe with renting the first 3-4 dvds and viewing as they are a lot of background etc, the 5th and 6th you'll want to view mulitiple times. if you're renting, just take a lot of notes.

Dan's book is very straight. I've built at least 4 different "contraptions" so far and they actually work.

fantastic post Reid,

I have ordered the first 2 volumes of HCW, the estimated wait time is 20-40 days because both copies are out rented. So i will wait, as for Dan's book im going to purchase that ont he weekend. It just unfortunate for people who do not have alot of money and that really want to be involved in this business. So i hope to absorb as much knowledge as i can, either from you or from someonese else.

Many thanks,
Joey

I bought mine last month and it's a great set. I bought it at a discount for about $300.

There is a special code to get the discount. It's: HIGHEND3D
