Hello David,

I know at one point you briefly explained what type of pull-down happened when you mix footage of different frame rates within a timeline. I do not recall, or can find the thread, so I would like to ask you again. What really happen when you place 1) 30P footage on a 24P timeline; 2) 30i footage on a 24P timeline; and 3) a 24P footage on a 30P timeline?

I am in the middle of a project that will require mixing some footage of different frame rates/progressive and interlaced, so your expert opinion on this area and best work-flow suggestion will be really appreciated.

Thanks,

Luis Otero

Avoid it if possible as you will get frame blending. For 30i in 24p use a tool like DVFilm or Magic Bullet to process it first -- fields blended on a progressive roject looks bad. For 30p into 24p or visa-versa the frame blend is OK for many sequences -- but it can make the image look softer. The is not too much that can be done, although I did have pretty good results once using Twixtor to convert 30p to 24p.
