Anyone,

I am trying to calibrate my broadcast monitor and I noticed that once I get it fairly close (according to the instructions in final cut pro) that the video playing on the computer monitors looks MUCH more red than the video playing on the broadcast monitor. Is it calibrated correctly? How much of a difference between the computer monitor and the broadcast monitor is normal? Thanks in advance for your help!!

I have a 20" Apple Cinema Display, and when calibrated using the Apple Colorsync utility, my external monitor and LCD are very very close. If you have a better LCD, or newer/better CRT computer monitor, it is possible for them to be very similar.

Now, if you have an older CRT monitor for your computer display, all bets are off. There's a ton of major differences between the two, and most computer CRTs in particular have no circuitry to try to stabilize their color reproduction over the long haul. In other words, there's lots of things that could make your computer CRT incapable of displaying accurate color rendition, most of them having to do with age and internal adjustments.

But that's what you have an external NTSC monitor for, right? Don't sweat it.

I have 2 new samsung sync master monitors. I noticed that the Y/C input looks completely different than the regular component input. The component input looks almost exactly acurate to the monitor. I'm not quite sure why.
