I'm in the pre-production stage of a project that will have me and another shooter outside Major League parks shooting vodcasts. I guess I should say shooting video that will be edited into vodcasts. But at any rate, most of my shooting will be walking up to people (baseball fans) and asking them what they are excited about, or why do you like baseball? In short, what is your opinion of a mic to use for this situation. It'll be on a DVX or XL-2.

A cheap and easy solution would be a Shure Beta58 or SM58 handheld dynamic wired microphone. They are so rugged you can bunt with them.

Hardwired EV RE50 or EV 635EL if you don't mind seeing the mic on camera.

I can't remember if it was the 58's or the 57's, but I seem to remember a great scene in the movie "The Commitments" that demonstrates this durability.
