Just wondering if anyone has tried to ues 24/720p footage from a HVX200 P2 with FCP 4.5.? From what I understand, it does work as long as you import from the desktop card store and not from the camera. Granted, you will see a downconverted signal on your monitor but... just wondering of anyone has any experience with this?

Thanks!

You can't import the footage from the card without FCP 5.0.4 and Quicktime 7.0.3. Those are the basic requirements for importing the footage. FCP 4.5 will not work for importing.

BUT....if the footage has already been imported and converted to quicktime files, FCP 4.5 can work with it.

But you need FCP 5.0.4 to import. Sorry.

Actually you can "capture now" from the camera using 4.5... Set your capture devise to "non-controllable devise" along with the appropriate presets. I did it once and had to mess around with it before it worked. You may have to do the same.

Well there you go. That is what I get for not owning the camera.

I love it when other solutions to "NO YOU CAN'T" are found. Human ingenuinity.
