Hi there,

I'm hoping this question hasn't been posted somewhere else. I searched everywhere but couldn't find anything. Forgive me if it is.

If you're targeting 24p, which route would it be more recommended if you wanted to preserve more resolution ?

1.) shooting 25F and adjusting speed to 24 on NLE

or

2.) shooting 50i with a PAL version of the XL-H1, deinterlacing it with a good app to 25P and adjusting to 24p ?

Appreciate any help.

Personal opinion: Not even worth the trouble. Shoot 25F and convert to 24P at the end.

I'm not sure software will do any better than whatever the Canon is doing in-camera.

btw, you could just shoot 24F and work in 24P with a few post workarounds. If you do shoot 25F, the nice thing is there are no pulldown issues to conform back to 24P, just the speed change.

Hey thanks Barlow for your answer. Actually I also thought that way but recently I read another post on another forum that said exactly the opposite so I got a little confused. It seems like some apps like SHAKE have excellent deinterlace algorithms ... but ... as you said it might not be even worth the trouble.

But anyways, thanks for the help.
