What?! Other countries are not allowed to build videocamera stabilizers? You may as well call the Glidecam and those other stabilizers "steadycam" knockoffs, too. :o(

Flycam, yes a knockoff, and a damned expensive one at that.
- They actually try and look like the Steadicam with some of their gear too.

EDIT: AARRGGH!!! How the heck do you turn their music off?!?! It doesn't stop when you close the window. God I hope they build better rigs than they code Flash. Plan to re-start your computer if you forget to turn the music off from their site if you go there.

And yes, Glidecam is also a kock-off. In fact everyone but "Steadicam" is a nock-off, as they are the original pioneers (who still lead with most of the inovation).

I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about this rig. Seemed like the subject line was a good way to get your attention, and I guess it did.

And as Mikko reiterates, yeah, they are a knock-off. And he's also right that it's an awful site.

Don't worry Tom, it's a hard sudject to take in but the boys have a point. It is a knock off. Maybe Wayne should have used another word ;)

By the way, I don't think he meant it in a bad way. There are many products in life that have been duplicated one way or the other, it doesn't mean it's a bad think. Just means the options are more and the price offerings are cheaper too. Again not everybody can afford the Steadicam but if I had the money I would buy it. :) Personally I don't have a major problem just as long as people are honest and straight forward about the quality of their work.

While Garrett Brown invented such an amazing device that we all love, if I was buying a highend rig right now, Howard Smith at Mk-V would be getting my money, a Nexus Sled and AR would be my rig of choice :D

As Charles reiterates, anything that is not an "original" is a "knock-off", and that can be said about ANY product. ;o)
