Hi, I am a spanish tv producer that is getting interested in creativity, so I want to learn to work in NLE software like Vegas Video and Avid Xpress DV.
After reading a lot of posts in this forum I think that my best shot to start learning will be Vegas Video, but I also realize that in the future I must be interested in learning how to edit in Avid as is the most used NLE software in the broadcast business. My question here refers to my needs of buyng a good computer for editing with Vegas and Avid. I have two options:
Option 1.
Clonic Pc
Sound Blaster Audigy Bulk
Gigabyte 8pe667 i845pe ddr333 ac97 6 usb2.0 533INTEL PENTIUM IV 2,53 GHZ 478 512 cache
120 Gigas 7200 rpm IBM/Seagate/Maxtor ata133
2 Gb Ram DDR. 333 Mhz
Matrox Parhelia 128 Mb
Sound Blaster Audigy Bulk
SONY DVD-RW DUAL
Windows Xp Proffesional
Adaptec (or Ads) Pyro Firewire card
1 year warranty
Price : 1700 Euros = 1842$ US dollars
Option 2.
Dell Workstation Precision 350
512 Mb RdRam ECC 1066
120 Gigas 7200 rpm Hard drive
4x DVD+RW
Matrox g550 Dual
1394 Firewire
Windows Xp proffesional
3 years of warranty
Price 1980 Euros= 2180$ US dollars
I beleive that I will have no problem installing Avid Xpress Dv in the Dell but I am not that sure with the PC clonic. I also like quietness and warranty of the Dell but I want to know if a better graphic card and more Ram will be better for working with Vegas.
Please make me know, pros and cons of each system.
Thanks in advance,
Chema
PS: I also have booked one of the new Panasonic Ag-Dvx100e Pal camcorders
