What would be a good 16x9 camera monitor for the HVX to attach to the hot shoe or the horizontal bar of the fig rig.

Can it be battery powered? Also I suppose I would use the HVC component out to component in on the monitor.

Although it can be done the Fig Rig and other handheld stabilizers weren't designed to add that much on-board weight. It's not that the unit won't handle it, it's that you'll be over-stressing your wrists, forearms and elbows holding up all that equipment.

Unless you have a lot of upper-body strength, and I don't mean being naturally strong, but having real muscle stamina which can only come from resistance training or classic weight lifting you'll fatigue your arms and even shoulder muscles in less than 10 minutes holding up the HVX, monitor, batteries etc.

If you want to test your own strength/stamina take a 10-15 pound dumbell and hold it in both hands out in front of you as if it were the Fig Rig. See how long you can just HOLD it in position before you have to lower it. The results may surprise you.

Thanks for the advise. I think that makes good sense. I am going to try it all together to see how the weight is before attempting the monitor.

But I am concerned about a High Def image. I use a 35mm adapter and focus is critical.
The Nebtek doesn't say HD - and I can't view them at a store , like say, B&H...
Any experiencewith these?

They're product is outstanding. It's durable, rigs where you want it and uses the batteries you choose all in a nice compact package.

I worked as a 1st Assistant Camera/Focus Puller for 15 years. When LCD's came on the scene I quickly discovered that they are not true for focus. They have made advancements but I still only trust a CRT monitor for focus. Hopefully your using the P+S Technik 35 adapter. If so, you can trust the focal plane mark for measuring for focus.

I am using a Sony 9L3 SD CRT 400 res monitor(~$1200 with Portabrace) with my HVX. I put it to the test on a short narrative film style shoot with the HVX lens only and every shot was focused the way we wanted. We utilized the focus assist, viewfinder, LCD, CRT and general tape measuring(even though the HVX doesn't have an accurate focal plane) all in combination to acheive our goals.

Conclusion: LCD's are an essential tool in production but I do not rely on them for focus or exposure.
