Here's a music video just shot on the HVX. Obviously since the res is low for the web, it doesn't show the full quality, but it's good to look at. Let me know if you're interesting in seeing some raw screenshots or something.

Nice!

How much was the whole budget and what did you use for CC?

but I have a question. The clip has a distinct "home video" look to it which is not a function of reduced quality of the web clip. It looks, for lack of a better term <1/3"-CCDish>. Was that the look you were going for? Did you do any post?

Even in the Red Hot Chili Peppers video the "home video" look was quite obvious, although IMHO it was retained for artistic reasons to create the impression of a casting call.

I am trying to gauge the performance capability of the camera, after all HD, DVCPRO, 24p have the potential for a professional look - a look that is less distinguishable from the major productions on MTV et al...

Or am I asking for too much? It just seems that the HVX - based on comparison tests with other cameras - should be quite close.

Daniel,

if you look at clips posted on this forum by Obin Olson and Vincent Pascoe - among others - you'll see examples of just how good the HVX can look with proper setup. Both the recent clips mentioned above look very film-like and in some cases you can't tell it's not a film shoot. This is mainly due to the M2 adapter being used but it's also good composition, lighting and exposure being put to use also.

To be fair, any of the HD/HDV cameras are capable of similar film-like looks but in the extensive testing we did last fall with the HDV cameras and the HVX this spring, the HVX has the most cinematic-looking possibilities of them all.

Nice video. Shows the power of a good DP. Because this camera doesnt' do low light well. And this video looked good...low light ALL OVER the place.
