View Full Version : Anyone see strobing within a conversion

Started cutting our feature and when I convert some of the first stuff we shot with tape, suddenly the image is stroby.
We are using MPEG Streamclip to convert it to AICs.
It happens on camera cuts, and tends to be moving stuff. It's not the entire transfer, just specific shots.
When I set in and out points on the clip in Streamclip and reconvert just the affected shot, it works.
Kinda weird.
Any thoughts?

Daniel Patton July 20th, 2006, 10:03 PM It was all shot the same, 1/60 or 1/48? Never slipped down to 1/30 or 1/24 as can happen when in the hands of someone trying to deal with lower light?

Like I said, once I pull out just the one clip and retransfer, no issues.

and brought into FCP, I get periodic strobing
and am sure how to fix or if it is possible...

Daniel Patton July 21st, 2006, 01:24 PM Is this maybe not the same issue a few others noted, only to find out that it was how it displayed on the system screen? It did not strobe however when compiled to DVD and played back on the final system.
Just a thought.

It only apprears after .m2t files are converted into
quicktimes.
The stobbing comes and goes from time to time.
Maybe there is an optimum setting
when converting the 24p quicktimes to MPEG-2
for DVD output?
Tom Chaney July 21st, 2006, 04:36 PM Again, If I pick the ins and outs in Streamclip, and reconvert, it's fine! Definitely not the display.
John may have a good point on the "A" version, but I'm pretty sure that the footage was after the "A" upgrade.
It's fixable Rob, find the clip that strobes in MPEG Streamclip, choose Edit, choose in, then go to the end and choose edit, choose out.
