Hey I dont mind browsing tech threads for hours I do it all the time. But I just cant find anything on the canon site, thanks for the pointing me in the right direction.

And I can't seem to find the focal length limits for that 20x zoom.

Per the DV Info XH FAQ (http://www.dvinfo.net/canonxh/xhfaq.php):the focal length of the 20x lens is 4.5mm to 90mm, which translates in 35mm still photo terms to 32.5mm at full wide angle to 650mm at full telephoto

Thanks Michael. They have 5.4mm to 108mm lenses, which in 35mm still photo terms equates to 38.9mm at full wide to 778mm at full telephoto.

Who thought this one up? A 20x zoom without any decent wide-angle coverage. What a wasted opportunity. Sony and Panasonic, with much shorter zooms, start at 32.5 mm equiv.

Canon's new cameras, the XH A1 and XH G1 have a wider wide angle and and a shorter telephoto than the original XL H1. But, of course the XL H1 will have a wide angle 6x zoom in few months.

The following is paraphrased from this site's XH FAQ's:

XH A1 / XH G1

4.5mm to 90mm (32.5mm to 650mm in 35mm terms)

XL H1

5.4mm to 108mm (38.9mm to 778mm in 35 mm terms)

Where do you see the wide-angle adapter listed? Price? Info? I think I'd have to get one as soon as I buy the A1.

The wide angle adapter for the Canon XH series is found on the Canon Japan site located at http://cweb.canon.jp/cgi-bin/prodv-op/srch_op.cgi?_XHG1_ -- scroll down that page to "WD-H72" -- you can click on the link there for a small (very small) photo. The price listed there is 55,000 Yen which roughly converts to about 480 US dollars, although it should be understood that Canon USA has not yet announced North American price. Hope this helps,
