I've been using Adobe Media Encoder to encode my projects direct from premiere pro 2 bu the mpeg 2 always comes up with a different extension (m2t, m2v, etc)...and then I deliver my work to the people I work for and nobody is able to open it. When I worked with earlier versions of premiere, the extention was always mpeg and everybody was able to open it. . I need to export mpeg 2 so that the extension is MPEG. Is there any third party plugin to export mpeg 2 with mpeg extension? Or any other solution?
thanks

The extension depends on the preset you choose in the Adobe Media Encoder. M2T/M2V means you used an option that encodes the project to unmuxed (separate) MPEG-2 video and audio files. If you want both the video and audio in one MPEG-2 (MPG/MPEG) file, choose the preset you want, then open "Multiplexer" tab. Under the Basic category, there will be a Multiplexing option. Choose "DVD" when using the "MPEG2-DVD" format and "MPEG-2" when using the plain "MPEG-2" format.

Ok. Here are the option on the encoder "Mutiplexer":
Basic settings:
- Multiplexing: mpeg-2, svcd, dvd, ts, none
Bitrate and buffering details:
- Bitrate type (variable or constant)
- Max rate
- Packet size
- Packet/Pack
- Video buffer size (zero)
- Audio buffer size (4)
What exactly do I have to do to be able to export mpeg2 with mpeg extension?

Those Multiplexing options are for the "MPEG-2" format. Like I said, use the "MPEG-2" Multiplexing option for that format. When you click “OK” and go back to the "Save File" window, you will see that the "Save as type" is set to "MPEG2(*.mpg)."

Ok, say I don't want to use Adobe Media Encoder. Is there any GOOD codec/compressor I can download to export mpeg2 directly from premiere?

In your shoes I'd buy CCE Basic:
http://www.cinemacraft.com/eng/basic.html
Lots of MPEG2 power for the money ( 58 USD )
