This is probably on Search, when I searched it just doesn't pop out at me saying if it's possible. I know it probaby is, but wanted confirmation. There's a cheap Pal DVX100b out there on the web and thinking of getting it, but have a fear that it might not work out. I'm planning on shooting 24p and then editing it on NTSC system. Can I just capture the PAL resolution and then compress it to NTSC and everything fine? Or will there be problems?

Rich,

I'm not really familiar with converting PAL to NTSC, but it is more than just the resolution. In the PAL world we don't use 24p but 25p (that's why a movie on a PAL DVD is about 4% shorter than in the cinema).

I'm afraid your approach won't work. At least it is not worth all the hassle just to save a few dollars on the camera. I'd look for a used NTSC DVX100 instead.

Hey, if you are using everything for use in your computer then I don't think it's a problem, computers don't discriminate, however, your TV screen or DVD player most very likely will.

If your output is just for computer, ipod or so on, no problems with the PAL, but if you want see it on a dvdplayer or tv, it may be more difficult (although I think it is trickier to go from NTSC to PAl, rather than vice versa.)

If you use After Effects 7 look at the help file and search for "Pal to NTSC"
Works great
