View Full Version : Andromeda for Canon XL cam's?

Is there someone, or people from the Andromeda project who thought about making a version for the Canon XL camera's, XL1s and XL2, and maybe even XL1?

Because the project seems nice, I reviewed some clips from their site, but it's only limited to DVX-cameras...

Thanks,

Very unlikely... it is an interesting project but impractical for most. I can see some applications that would be a perfect fit but most of those apps are going to be generating decent revenue and you should be using a better camera anyway...

Yes, actually I don't think I would buy one either - because of workflow and maybe budget reasons, but just interested :-)
Maybe if they WOULD make it, and the footage blows me away, I would consider it once...

Mathieu, what is this? Haven't heard about it, do you have any links?

http://www.reel-stream.com/

This is the website. It's a kind of modification that sucks the uncompressed data stream from your DVX (but you have to connect it to a Mac to capture it) of about 2000-2500 dollars, which gives you more lattitude, and HD-resolution. You should look at the website and watch some clips.

The website states (in the FAQ) that the XL2 might be their next 'version'. Would be pretty cool indeed!

I am not sure how old that FAQ is but with the 960X480 CCDS of the XL2 they should be able to pull HD footage off that would surpass the HVX.
