Here is a link to a video of that camcorder that I posted on this forum about 2 ½ months ago.

The Panasonic consumer HD camcorder is mentioned at 3 minute 10 seconds.
Hopefully Panasonic will reveal its final design soon.

Hey Paul, thanks for the video - I like the smile on the salesman's face when he pulls out the mockup camera. I hope Panasonic doesn't limit themselves to consumer-oriented cameras for AVCHD: what I'd really like to see is a simplified version of the HVX200 with the same basic physical design using standard flash memory cards. I guess we'll find out next year whether or not they do that.

Guys,
For FX-1 owners, this spec alone keeps the value for FX-1's out there.
Theres a lot of complaining about the low light ability of the HC3, so why so giddly about the new FX7 with 8 lux for low light?
The FX7 seems to follow the same path as the HC1 vs HC3. People like the HC1 better.

8 lux is the Japanese rating system for lux. It's equivalent to approx. 4lux of "Western" lux rating.

But given that the XH-A1 has XLR inputs and a 20X zoom lens for under $4K, it will probably be very popular for event videographers.
If the reason to go for the A1 is XLR inputs only, with that likely difference in price ($3.2K vs $4K) you can add a Sound Devices Mix Pre and end up with a much better audio control than even the Z1.
Controlling and adjusting in-camera audio is really a pain. With the Mix Pre you will have better preamps, better limiters and better LED metering.

Now, if the FX7 has HDMI out, will it be possible to output HD through the HDMI, and DV out the firewire? So that I would possibly be able to capture both streams for realtime editing with dv, then use the xml function in fcp a la lumierehd style? it would be sweet for encoding-less capture

The V1e has it and I wonder if us Mac and PC folks can capture without hitting the HDV codec using this:
