We are looking for a good miniDV camera that you can attach a mini jack mic too and get as good audio as possible. We are trying to stay under $1000.00 for the setup, no GL2 or HDV. I know a setup like this exists I've seen people with SonyHandicam's with big shotgun mics. Any suggestions will be appreciated. This is simply a run and gun grab and run camera. thanks

I would say look at the Elura 100, and get a good tripod.

what would be the best mic I could use with the Elura, I am used to XLR mics not very familiar with the minijack mics.

Uhhhh... To tell you the truth I dont even own it. I just used it at bestbuy one day, and I've read alot of good things about it. for the mic... I'm not sure. I Have a mini jack mic that I got from target for only 8 dollars. you however would want something better I'm sure. Look around on the web for a good mic. Or you could just get a cable that can run from a sound board into a mini jack. that way you can still use your nice XLR mics. That is what I am going to end up doing once I get my camera.

Would this work, Canon Elura 100 with a beachtek DXA-25 Dual XLR Adapter housed in a jimmy box. Also does the beachtek get its power from the camera bettery through the minijack, or do you have to plug it into the wall(how is it powered).

I think it would work.

It looks like its operated by a battery. I'm not 100% sure tho... I would try and ask the person you plan to buy it from to see if it is battery or not. Let me know what happens!

Gabriel, we are going to go with the HDR-HC1. I'll let you know how it goes.

Keep in mind that if all you're looking for is to go from XLR to a mini jack, you can always get the appropriate adapters at Radio Shack.
