I'm editing from a hard drive from work at home and when I open the project and reset all the proper scratch disks, everything works fine except that now I don't have any audio waveforms. If I toggle the waveform on and off, it just brings up x's where the waveform should be. Other projects on my other drive will have waveforms and at work this same drive will bring up the waveforms. Any solutions out there. I'm using a 17" MBP and at work I use dual 2.5ghz

thanks in advance,
Brian

Import a file from the project in question into a new project. If the waveform is still missing, recapture the clip from tape and see if the condition remains. If the condition remains you are left with the remote possibility that Final Cut needs to be reinstalled or there's something wrong with the footage on the tape.

It's also possible that the project file is corrupted. Either do a "Save As" and see if the new copy works better or go to a backup project file and see if one of those works better.

Would the waveform cache have something to do with this? Did you include that data on your portable drive and reconnect it?

just a thought.
