I just bought Vegas 7, and am having trouble playing the .m2t files I filmed.
If I put them on the timeline and play them right from the start, they play fine. But when I start jumping around on the timeline, starting and stopping, the file will only play about halfway through to the end, and then freezes on the same frame each time.

I've rendered a couple of .m2t files, and the rendered m-peg-2's play back perfectly.

During filming, I recorded 24p from my HD100 straight to the HD100-80 hard disk, and dumped the files onto the computer.

I just bought the computer. It's an Acer (dual-core processor) with 2gig ram and 750gig hard disk space.

Anybody else have problems like this?

I've got Vegas 6, trying out Vegas 7, but I use Cineform. My JVC 24p stuff has been playing back fine but then again it's not m2t. I have not heard of anyone else having this problem and Vegas is pretty solid...

I wonder if it might be some kind of problem with the files off the hard disk.

Miq, I had that problem (as did everyone else) when using Vegas 6, where I could only view a portion of the file unless I rendered.

However, in using the DR-HD100 (80 gb) drive, shooting in 24p, and with Vegas 7, I have no problems. I have a single core Pentium 3.2 machine and am able to play and edit .m2t files all the way through, just like I did while using the Cineform intermediary files. And I may be wrong, but I didn't think that Vegas took advantage of the dual cores.

I just needed to install the free update to Vegas 7. They play now.
