We've been having problems with the video being jerky from the HVX200. We're thinking it's a capture problem. It was shot to mini DV at 480i/24p. We haven't had the camera for that long, and I'm wondering if we are capturing it with a wrong setting in Final Cut. With our last camera, we could capture video shot in 24p at NTSC DV 30 fps in Final Cut and it worked fine. But with this one it isn't working as well. We also tried to capture at DV NTSC 2:3:3:2, and it seems like it's a little better, but it still looks kind of jerky. When we go frame by frame, every third frame (i think) looks blurred and it's causing it to look jerky. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,

Joel

Joel,

There are many things that might be contributing to this "jerky" effect. Any fast motion will appear to be jerky or strobe at 24p. However if your clips don't have motion in them it's near-impossible to tell without seeing the clips.

if you can post them to the web somewhere where our forum experts can look at it that would be the best way to get some help on the issue.

It is a pan of a cabin....it's not real slow, but it's not real fast either. It's slow enough as to where it really shouldn't be jerky. Other footage we have captured has looked fine.

We thought it might be a problem with the deck so we captured it directly from the camera via firewire cable. It captured fine in 24p, but we can't convert it to 30 fps without it looking jerky again.

If this doesn't help I can post the video online for you guys to look at it.

Thanks!
