View Full Version : What HVX settings would you use for a music video shoot onstage?

Hi all. . .

My first formal shoot with the HVX is coming up in less than two weeks. Having next-to-zero experience with the camera, I'd like to just run with what you folks think would be my best settings for this sort of thing. We'll be shooting on a stage with stage lighting (but not huge amounts of it, and not much in the way of strong colors).

I'm planning on shooting at 720/24pN to save space on my cards, but I can be convinced to do something else, I suppose.

My real question concerns settings for the following items:

Detail

Detail coring

V Detail level

Chroma Level

Chroma Phase

Color Temp

Master Pedestal

And, of course, the GAMMA setting you'd typically think about using for a music video.

I'm completely in your debt.

It depends on the lighting. Alot of shows I shoot are lit with red lights ("everybody looks good in red lighting" Music Venue Bible 8:14) and even though the HVX is pretty good in low light, I still adjust the color temp to a little cooler. The best fix is to light the stage yourself or request that less red lighting is used.

These frames were shot on the HVX (SD/30p, resized to 320x240, no CC):
