Just a thought......can someone do me a favor? can you put a wide angle adaptor ( like a .5 ) onto your camera ( without dof adaptor ) and zoom into it and see if the dof is less than the same focal length as without the .5 on?

imagine if it was?..... put a .5 ( or any wide add on lens ) on, zoom in, and whalla! shallow depth of field!

If not.... my bad. ( had a dream last night that it did work... and all the dof adaptor makers ganged up on me and flogged me with a giant spagetti noodle )

Once I had that same dream...
... but no, it wouldn`t work.

DOF for any given focal lenght and aperture will be the same and only depends on the imaging sensor size be it 1/4", 1/3", 2/3" etc the bigger the shallower the DOF just as in digital photography where compact cameras donn`t have depth of field.

See here http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/dof/index.htm

also have a look on this:

virtually such adapters work like image plane converters.
