Okay my head is hurting from trying to compare all of the technical specs and I just need to know in simple terms what are the key differences between the different camera models - JVC GY-HD100 / HD110 / HD200 / HD250.

I primarily shoot coporate work with a little bit of event videography and documentary. I own and love the Panasonic DVX100a but am not prepared to move away from tape yet as a storage device.

JVC GY-HD100U: HDV 720 24p, 25p, 30p and NTSC SD, IEEE1394 IN and IEEE1394 OUT
JVC GY-HD100E: HDV 720 24p, 25p, 30p and PAL SD, IEEE 1394 IN
JVC GY-HD101E: HDV 720 24p, 25p, 30p and PAL SD, IEEE 1394 IN and IEEE1394 OUT

JVC GY-HD110 , JVC GY-HD111 is the same as the above, but updated.

JVC GY-HD200: the above with 720 50p and 60p support/encoding

JVC GY-HD250: the above with 720 50p and 60p support/encoding and the break-out box on the end (SDI)

There are some other differences (enhanced gamma etc), but that's the main difference...

A few other key features of the GY-HD250 are Time Code In / Out, Genlock In, and CCU control.

Don't the 200 and 250 also have a much improved MPEG-2 codec?

Carl, this thread isn't including that the camera front end is better, 14bit A/D while the 110 is 12bit. The 200/250 is a better camera.

Better highlight control, more color, lower noise. Good stuff like that.

And the MPEG encoder is better, not just able to do the 60p.

Ken, you're making it real hard to sell my 100 so I can get the 200. Drat:-).

Since we're going into more specifics.: the 200 also has a GOLD-looking part on it, where the 100 has a SILVER-looking part on it. So I think you can easily sell your 100 because of that: it looks better on the outside :-)

Does this camera really exist? I'm 'the best quote from two companies away' from buying a HD110E and I've just heard about this 200E. Yet, if you go to JVCPro web site there is no mention of it under the camcorder section.

Is this a USA model only?

Help quick, 'cos I don't want to buy an obsolete camera!

buying the HD110 won't be buying an obsolete item. The HD200 is just higher-end... (Somewhat more obsolete: not interested in my HD101E ?)
