View Full Version : Merlin In Action Nick Tsamandanis November 23rd, 2006, 03:51 PM Just finished a martial arts promo clip. Enjoy. http://www.bujinkanadelaide.org.au/Images/Video/extras/Steadicam.wmv Nick Tsamandanis December 18th, 2006, 11:08 PM Now also on Google: http://video.google.com.au/videoplay?docid=5057090250023032712&hl=en-AU Greg Quinn December 18th, 2006, 11:30 PM Nick, I thought it looked very good, well done. What's the Merlin like on the wrist? Nick Tsamandanis December 18th, 2006, 11:35 PM Thanks, the Merlin doesn't actually cause me pain anywhere, just general fatigue after a while. Mikko Wilson December 19th, 2006, 11:17 PM Very good stuff Nick. Found myself engrossed in the Ninjutsu and not the shots/shooting a few times there ... and that is the goal, well done! The shots flowed smoothly and naturally, and many of them harmonized with the action in the shot. This is some of the better Merlin footage I've seen. - Mikko Nick Tsamandanis December 20th, 2006, 12:19 AM Thanks Mikko. Non of it was scripted and I was just shooting on the fly. I can perform better when I rehearse a shot - even if it's just in my head. Dan Tolbertson December 20th, 2006, 12:22 AM Very nice work Nick! Glenn Gipson March 31st, 2007, 04:44 AM Getting ready to make a Merlin purchase, and was checking out this footage, very nice. As was mentioned, I was paying more attention to the subject matter, and not the shot, so that's awesome. Evan C. King April 3rd, 2007, 05:03 PM Nice merlin work but I gotta say that instructor stole the show. Each move ended in what was technically a "kill". I was too awesome to watch, he was cutting people's throats with their own knives! If this guy taught in Toronto, I'd fully go to his school, not because I wanna kill someone but because that just looks like too much fun. Nick Tsamandanis April 9th, 2007, 08:00 PM You are absolutely right Evan, it certainly doesn't hurt having Ed Lomax, a 15th Dan Shihan as the focus of attention, and you are also right that it is so much fun! Oliver Darden April 13th, 2007, 11:36 AM will the Merlin hold an XL1s? Glenn Gipson April 13th, 2007, 11:39 AM I think the Merlin only works with cameras up to 5lbs, and the XL1 might be too long too. Mikko Wilson April 13th, 2007, 03:05 PM Length isn't really an issue with Steadicam (ok, it is in the absoloute extremes, you can always go too far with anything...) but weight is. And the XL series (XL1, XL1s, XL2, XL H1) are all far to heavy to operate on any handheld stabilizer. - Mikko Nick Tsamandanis April 13th, 2007, 05:06 PM Cool..... http://www.dvcreators.net/ninjutsu-steadicam-merlin-in-action/ Oliver Darden April 13th, 2007, 08:31 PM so do you all think the GC4000 and the smooth shooter is a good combo for the XL1? ill be using it for short film stuff btw Charles King April 14th, 2007, 12:14 AM so do you all think the GC4000 and the smooth shooter is a good combo for the XL1? ill be using it for short film stuff btw ...If you stay within it's weight limit and not add a whole lot of accessories. I'm referring to the smooth shooter. Oliver Darden April 15th, 2007, 02:25 AM Anyone have a suggestion for an LCD monitor that goes good with these stabilizers? 4 inch, 7 inch, brand, etc. anyone use this brand before? http://lcd4video.com/ |
